Queensland Symphony Orchestra musicians will travel to Millmerran this March to perform concerts for the local community and lead workshops with the region’s school students.
The Orchestra’s ‘Enrichment through Music’ program brings musicians and a conductor to work in regional communities.
A concert at Millmerran Community and Cultural Centre on Tuesday 24 March will include 14 musicians from Queensland Symphony Orchestra, performing as a group and also with students from Millmerran State School and Cecil Plains and Pittsworth State High Schools. Local musicians and the Pittsworth Community Concert Band, Black Inc. will also be involved.
Orchestra musicians will hold workshops for the school ensembles prior to the concert, led by international band director Dr Rob McWilliams.
The broader school community will have the opportunity to hear Queensland Symphony Orchestra musicians perform and ask questions at school performances on Wednesday 25 March.
The activity is thanks to the generous support of locals Simon and Gayle Hall.
